Black Birds was shown at the  Aquarius Era Festival in Bulgaria 15-19 of October 2025.

 

It is a International Art festival with a special focus on dance, teater and contemporary expression.

This tour  is made possible by a grant from The Performing Art Center of Iceland, insuring that the show can parttake in a cultural exchange. The goal is that voices often marginalised can be heard loud and clear internationally. The participation has an importance both in regard to introducing Icelandic dance teater and as a platform for visibility of handicapped artists and a dialogue with artists from other countries.

The Aquarius Era Festival gives us an important opportunity to present Icelandic dance-theatre and contemporary dance on an international platform. It also serves as a space for the visibility of disabled artists and for interdisciplinary dialogue with artists from other countries. Among the performers of Black Birds is Lára Þorsteinsdóttir, an artist on the autism spectrum, for whom this will be her first appearance at an international festival. She will perform alongside Íris Ásmundardóttir and Sigurður Edgar Andersen, under the artistic direction of Lára Stefánsdóttir.
