
Íris Ásmundardóttir
Born and raised in Iceland, Íris began dancing at the age of three and graduated from the National Ballet School of Iceland in 2018. She went on to train at Rambert School in London, graduating in 2021 with a First Class BA (Hons) in Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and later completed her MA with Emergence Postgraduate Company under the direction of Joss Arnott.
Since then, Íris has performed internationally, including with Tanz Company Gervasi in Austria (Brown-1), and in projects such as Black Birds by Lára Stefáns, a collaboration with Genevieve Nolan at Galleri Ramfjörd, and choreography for the Reykjavík Arts Festival. She is also a member of Ballet Axis, directed by Sally Cowdin. In 2025, she was nominated for Dancer of the Year in Iceland at Gríman – the National Theatre and Performance Awards.
Alongside performing, Íris teaches at the Iceland University of the Arts. Her movement style is described as smooth, elongated, and dynamic, with a strong focus on musicality and expression.
